kristenheadshotKristen Hinman used to think the perfect weeknight dinner consisted of an omelette and a glass of wine. OK, she still does. Her husband, on the other hand? Not so much. Luckily, three years of recreational cooking school in Paris and a vast cookbook collection mean she’s never at a loss for ideas. Kristen is a journalist who has lingered in celebrity chefs’ kitchens, nosed over midwestern caviar houses and taken pigs to slaughter–all on the clock. She lives in St. Louis and Washington D.C. and is the winner of two James Beard Foundation Awards for newspaper writing. One day she will wallpaper her pantry with Gourmet magazine covers. KerriIn October 2008, Kerri Platt fulfilled a long held dream and purchased The Wine Bottega. She fell into wine by fortuitous accident. After graduating with a degree in Biology from Yale, and a few stops along the way, she eventually found herself in restaurant management where she fell in love with wine, particularly educating others about wine. She turned her tongue purple at Bare Cove Wine Annex in Hingham, MA and then on a whim packed up for Australia to pursue a Masters in Wine Business at the University of Adelaide. After two wine drenched years down under (and a masters thesis on premium box wine), she returned to Boston and after a few adventures in the wine business, one day her phone rang and she heard The Wine Bottega was for sale…

Kari-headshotKari Bremberg is a guest blogger for Plummelo. She works in marketing, but has dreamed of going back to school one day to become a pastry chef. A world traveler, she indulges in the baked goods of each country but has yet to find anything to rival a fresh-out-of-the-oven Parisian croissant. When not planning her next vacation, Kari spins, runs, and plays tennis to burn off the calories of all those desserts. Read her blog.

julie-biopicJulie Hallinan is a guest blogger for Plummelo. She learned to cook three years ago when she suddenly found herself living in a town with no good restaurants and a husband in the cabinet business who made her dream kitchen possible. Her newfound interest in cooking has inspired her to use interesting and healthful ingredients, and in a dairy-free diet to boot. Now she lives in suburban Chicago with her husband (now in the spirits business), her 7-year-old son, and her 5-year-old daughter. When she is not refereeing her kids’ arguments, she can be found in the kitchen. She spends any spare time on the tennis court and at the ice rink.

Robin Horrigan is a guest blogger for Plummelo. She is a stay at home mom to a 6-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. She is the cruise director for her busy family, keeping the calendar full of the stuff that makes life worth living, but leaves plenty of time to shop for shoes. When they’re all at home, you’ll find the Horrigans knee-deep in chocolate chips and cookie racks, baking treats together that celebrate the four seasons and even the silliest of holidays.

skSarah Kim is a guest blogger for Plummelo. She is a stay at home mom to the most wonderful 4-year-old and 1-year-old boys. When she finds time from tooling around the kitchen or playing pretend Thomas the Tank Engine, she enjoys crafting anything and everything. She’s an east coaster at heart who recently settled with her husband and kids in Los Angeles. For a snippet into the life of her and her family, read her blog at oaksusu.wordpress.com.

Matt McGinness learned to cook only after exhausting all possible combinations of burrito toppings at the local taqueria. Ten years later, his wife has had to put an embargo on new cookbooks and cooking gear. While he still finds baking painfully scientific, he is obsessed with perfecting the homemade pizza, cooking more things from scratch, and recreating meals from travels around the world. A native Bostonian, he lives in San Diego with his wife and two golden retrievers, who happily clean up any scraps that hit the floor.

sarahstanleybiopicSarah Stanley is a guest blogger for Plummelo. After graduating from college in Los Angeles, she moved back to Boston and quickly found her way to the most food-themed neighborhood in the city. Living among such fantastic and oftentimes already-prepared food has enabled Sarah to carry on contently as a food-lover without actually having to cook. (She feels sort of guilty about this.) Aside from obsessing over food, Sarah spends her time working at a public relations company and running a lot.
