Autumn Is a Great Time for Cooking
Any change in season brings new elements to cooking, but none is like autumn – the harvest season.
Autumn fruits, vegetables and nuts are amazingly diverse and bountiful. So, go ahead and try something new. Want some ideas? There’s a great website called Seasonal Cornucopia that tells you what’s in season. For example, quince, cranberries, celery root, peppercress, blue chanterelle mushrooms, and many more are in season now.
Want to know what to do with an ingredient? Try typing in the ingredient on any recipe website’s search feature, including Plummelo’s. Try this one: cranberries.
Farmers’ markets are an obvious choice to find seasonal items. If you belong to a CSA (to find one near you, try the localharvest.org), even better. But, don’t forget to check your regular grocery stores and food clubs like Costco.
Nothing beats fresh ingredients!
